Card quality, personalization and finish
The most commonly used material for plastic cards is styrene, PVC or composites. Styrene cards are ideal for applications, which do no not have a long wallet life such as prepaid phone cards. PVC is a little more expensive but is more flexible and durable and recommended for applications requiring thermal personalization. Laminated PVC is very durable and it the most widely used material for plastic card and standard for credit cards and ATM cards. Most magnetic stripe cards and smart card are laminated PVC.
There are endless card personalization possibilities using embossing, indenting and tipping, thermal printing, ink jet printing, scratch of labels, magnetic stripe encoding, barcodes, serialization, label printing and letter and documents processing, all conforming to ISO standards.
Card finishes range from UV coated, press polish, matte, to a full ISO laminated card. Additional features include magnetic stripes, photo ID, signature panels, foils, holograms, lenticular and smart chip technology.
